The Persistence of Elusion
Jeff Morris
This glitchy musical videopoem probes and teases our natural proclivities toward regularity and linearity, thwarting both in efforts to have the text and sounds more directly reach the inner mind by zooming past our cognitive maitre d's that would normally greet and parse new information as it comes in. The title is a reference to Salvador Dali's famous painting, "The Persistence of Memory" and his theoretical approach of playing with the hardness and softness of things (as he put it, e.g., clocks, memory, time) throughout his work.
